Lesson Title: Group Presentation for the Introduction to TriFIT 600

Grade Level Appropriateness: 10-12

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

  1. In a four-day lesson the students will be able to create a Personal Profile.
  2. Introduce nine fields of fitness in which students will break down and present as small groups to the entire class.
  3. Each student will evaluate the fitness level another person, and will have another student evaluate their fitness level.
  4. Each student will have comprehension of how the program works, what each field represents, and what level of fitness they are currently in.

ACTIVITIES/PROCEDURES:

  1. In nine groups of four students will demonstrate one field to the entire class.
  2. The groups will be assigned one field to investigate from nine areas; Flexibility, Strength, Cardiovascular, Body Composition, then under Programs: Quick Define, Composition Goals, Meal Plan, Cardiovascular Program, and Strength Program.
  3. In the small groups students will have 30min. to gather information together.
  4. Each group working together will define, demonstrate, and be able to instruct the class regarding their assigned field.
  5. Groups must be able to answer any questions which may come up (groups will be the profession instructor for their assigned field)
  6. Non-presenting students for later use must take notes.
  7. Finally in-groups of two each student will test their partner, and print out the full seventeen page Personal Profile.
  8. Each student will complete all nine fields in, which were presented correctly with a high level of reliability and validity.

REFLECTION:

  1. Initiate independent and responsible personal behavior.
  2. Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
  3. Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.

RATIONALE: Students need to understand their field well enough to teach it to the class and answer and questions, which may come up. Teaching is the best way to learn.
