Lesson Title: Great Beginnings
Lesson #27
Grade Level Appropriateness: 9th and 10th
Goals and Objectives:
- To define areas of strength and areas in need of improvement.
- To develop specific information about their levels of fitness.
- To introduce them to personal fitness concepts.
- To learn how to assess their own progress
Activities /Procedures:
- Classes to be divided into teams consisting of 6 students each. One student
from each team will be designated as Captain. The Captain's responsibility
will be to keep accurate records of students fitness times and measurements.
To include:
- Mile times
- Sit and Reach
- Pull-ups
- Sit-ups
- Swim times
- Push-ups
- Fitness sheets are to filled out by each student and recorded on their individual
fitness program using TriFIT System.
- The information gathered by student groups will then be put into the computers
in the lab and assessed by the standards placed into the system.
Rationale: All freshman will have accurate assessment of their physical
abilities and tools with which to develop future strengths.
Reflection: A clear read out can be used as an assessment tool for the
students use and for gauging the students progress and levels of abilities by
their instructor.
