Lesson Title: Personal Fitness Plan
Lesson #29
Grade Level appropriateness: 10

Goals and Objectives:

  1. Have students design personal fitness plan to develop areas of cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.
  2. Familiarize students with retrieving information from the TriFIT software program to enhance their personal fitness program.

Activities/Procedures:

  1. Students will meet in groups of 4-5 at each computer.
  2. Using a printout of his/her personal data, each student will design a fitness plan that incorporates activities that are appropriate to one's current fitness level and are personally enjoyable. The plan will be for use outside of physical education class. A list of activities, with varying degrees of intensity, will be provided by the instructor. Students must apply previously learned knowledge of the principles of progression (F.I.T.) and specificity. The TriFIT will be used as a resource for definitions, etc.

Rationale: Students must exhibit a physically active lifestyle:

  1. Develop and conduct independently a personal physical activity program meeting their needs
  2. Seek and select physical activity from a variety of movement forms based on personal interest, meaning and fulfillment.
  3. Participate regularly in health-enhancing and personally rewarding physical activity outside the physical education class setting.

Reflection: Collect and evaluate personal fitness plans.
