Angina

Angina is a discomfort in the chest, which is caused by a shortage of oxygen to the heart which is carried by the blood. Physical activity is usually the cause of angina, however anxiety and excitement can also cause it. Symptoms usually do not occur until the artery is at least 75% blocked. Symptoms include tightness, squeezing, heaviness, aching, burning, or a choking sensation. It is usually felt beneath the breastbone and increases in intensity gradually until it reaches a plateau, then gradually goes away. This process takes only a few minutes. If you suspect that you have angina, see a doctor immediately for diagnosis.

Angina is caused by a blockage in one or more of the arteries supplying the heart with oxygen.
